The Range

We teetered on the brink of
environmental disaster for ages.

What pushed us over was
those thin fleece blankets

printed in vivid colours.
Such reasonable prices!

Humans clung to theirs
like orphaned zoo animals

as air became poisonous,
warm and cosy to the end.

Ewen Glass (he/him) is a screenwriter and poet from Northern Ireland who lives with two dogs, a tortoise and a body of self-doubt; his poetry has appeared in the likes of Okay Donkey, Abridged, HAD, Poetry Scotland and One Art Poetry. Bluesky/X/IG: @ewenglass
