Philip Tetley-Jones

Nature studies

Not here but now an insect hanging in the air
is ended by a handclap. Eat sunlight like a plant.
Watch dandelion seed circle my wineglass
and settle within.

Anything can happen. The snail’s heart pulses
like a mood. The wind reads the meadow
while the tongue probes a pointed tooth,
nuzzling its summit.

I bury a Barbie, smiling incorruptible
on a hillside rich with stones.
Anything can happen. The mountains
M M M, the ocean O.
