Zoe Morana Liao

The Collector

On a walnut shelf like a pedestal
Ornately painted teacups drape themselves in dust shawls
Too pretty to smear with saliva, they perch poised for the occasional admirer
Their curved hips itch for fingers, their hollows ache for steaming amber ambrosia
But a wintry wind inquires through a window and one china blue bloom shivers
In response, the night caller shoves, and she sways and tips
The collector finds her cracked with the dawn and she bids her sisters goodbye with a split lip
